Get It Right – Braves [Single Review]

Words: Michelle Yeong

When it comes to writing catchy surf-inspired garage-pop tunes, you better have Braves on speed-dial. New single Get It Right is the perfect example of what Braves set out to do as a band, and that’s to ensure you’re having a good time even though you know you’ve spent all your hard earned cash on one too many ciders.

The track is definitely a throwback to the Sadko In The Underwater Kingdom days, with laidback 90’s skate feels and a bunch of scuzzy guitar rhythms. Get It Right has it all, from melodic oohs, frenetic drums, and a lasting bass-line – making this the perfect track to let loose to. Accompanied with the solid instrumentation, Alex Di Giovanni’s shouty vocals are more powerful and polished in this tune, encouraging listeners to sing along. The Perth favourites have outdone themselves and it seems their tunes are getting catchier with each release. If I’m right (which I most likely am) then we’re all going to be in for a treat for the next set of Braves tunes – hopefully to reach our shores in the near future.

Braves got it right, so come party at the official single launch on Friday 4th December at Babushka in Leederville.
