We’ve seen HyperFest, now get ready for HyperVision – one of the country’s most exciting platforms for young and emerging visual artists. The City of Swan have partnered up with the same folks that bring you an annual festival of all-ages entertainment – HyperTeam - to organise this year’s competition. All Western Australian residents between the ages of 12 and 25 are encouraged to apply, with work across any medium. Categories include photography, fashion, jewellery, sculpture, traditional art, digital art and short film.
City of Swan Mayor, Mick Wainwright, told us “It never ceases to amaze me what talented people live within the City’s boundaries and I am proud of the City’s contribution in supporting young artists.” He added that HyperVision will also include Hyper Miniseries events on Thursday evenings during the exhibition, noting “These Miniseries events, which include live art battles and musical performances, are an excellent opportunity for young people to express their artistic side and have fun.”
This year’s theme for the main competition is ‘Reality Check’, and the team are calling for “works that represent [your] view on reality, asking ‘what is real?’ in their lives, community and on the world stage.” Successful pieces will be showcased at Midland Gate Shopping Centre and the Midland Junction Art Centre in July. Entries close on the 3rd of June, and applications are currently open via the website.
